When Constantine the Great and Saint Helen found the Holy Cross, they cut it into small pieces, which they divided into monasteries and convents. All the sawdust and debris left from this cut were collected and taken to a goldsmith in Istanbul and they asked him to make an amulet for the children. The goldsmith, therefore, made a piece of jewelry which had a round shape, was like a small spoon and represented on one side Constantine and Helen and on the other side had a cross in the middle and the letters ΙΧΝΚ that symbolize the phrase "Jesus Christ Wins". This jewelry worked like a small teaspoon, in which they put holy water and gave it to young children who had some illness or suffering from something, and as soon as they were given this little amulet, the children became well. 

Nowadays this jewelry coin is worn by adults and children as well, on necklaces and bracelets and protects the person wearing it from evil forces.
