This beautiful image, depicted on a chic design object, of a young woman and curly hair is among the best known images in Minoan art. She is a fragment of a larger fresco from the Knossos palace in Crete. Shortly after it was first discovered by Sir Arthur Evans at Knossos, it was seen by Edmond Pottier, a famous art historian of Greek pottery, who likened her charming look to the contemporary women of Paris. She has been known as “La Parisienne” ever since, because she so much mirrored what people found beautiful at that time during the Minoan era.
