Our Proud to Be Greek Gift Box contains:

✻Design Object Tsarouhi

Tsarouhi is a type of shoe typically known nowadays as part of the traditional uniform worn by the Evzones of the Greek Presidential Guard. Tsarouhia are typically made of a number of pieces of leather hand-sewn together. They have a characteristic up-turned toe covered by a large woolen pompon. After the Greek independence in early 19th century, they were used in isolated rural areas and nomadic populations. Nowadays tsarouhia always remind us of the Greek national celebrations and the proud Greek community. This gift set contains one tsarouhi in a beautiful linen pouch.

✻Olive Wood Stamp with Greek Flag Heart

A handmade Greek themed olive wood mounted stamp and a quality blue ink pad in a box. The hard wood that the stamp is made from comes from the prunning of younger trees, which is a process considered essential for the growth and health of the tree. Each block is then cut, sanded and oiled by hand using a solvent gree impregnating oil which contains orange oil and brings out the exceptional grain of the wood. Share the love of Greece that you have in your heart by printing Greek hearts everywhere! Stamp’s dimensions: 1.57” x 1.57” in. [4x4cm].

✻Greek Kompoloi - Worry Bead

Komboloi derives from the Greek words kombos which means “knot” and leo which means “say” as in “in every knot I say a prayer“. Its origins date back to time, when monks began making strands of beads by tying knots on a string at regular intervals in order to say their prayers to God. Worry beads depict the Greek easy-going mentality. Most Cretans carry a komboloi with them at all times. One can hear komboloi’s flips and tricks in a busy kafeneion (café) downtown, where people play with their komboloi in different manners, thus letting go of their stress. Nowadays, the fact that the komboloi keeps your hands occupied has been promoted as an excellent way to quit smoking. Our worry beads come in a glass tube.

✻Greek Flag Pin Badge

A Greek designed pin badge to add Greek colours and sparkle to an outfit. A stylish touch to remind you everyday how to be a proud Greek. Wear the flag!

✻Greek lucky eye bracelet

In Greece there is a belief that Matiasma will cause misfortune or injury. Matiasma means “evil eye” in Greek, and is often shortened to mati which means “eye”. The classic Greek “lucky eye” symbol charm aims to ward off the effects of the Matiasma. Blue charms shaped like eyes worn on a necklace or a bracelet “reflect” the evil. The lucky eye is the most commonly talked about ancient tradition in the Greek Isles. Celebrate Greek culture with a Greek lucky eye bracelet in the blue and white colours of the Greek flag.
